Masala Chai / Spiced Tea…

N owadays, in Namma Bengaluru, the weather is getting colder and is causing cold and allergies. So I thought of sharing a recipe for a healthy masala tea to replace the regular tea. I made this masala tea which is a very good antioxidant and will help to build and strengthen the immune system. Masala tea is in fact, an anytime beverage. A cup of this masala tea gives a wonderful sense of warmth and has a soothing effect. Ginger makes us so refreshing and it is so good for digestion. You can actually skip the milk and prepare this as a plain masala tea which tastes even better !! Ingredients: Milk- ¾ Cup water- ¼ Cup Sugar- adjust to taste Ginger- a small piece Tea Powder- 2 tbsp Cloves- 3- 4 nos Cinnamon- 1 inch stick Green Cardamom- 3 Grated Nutmeg- a pinch Method: Combine the milk, required amount of sugar and water along with tea powder and bring this to boil keep this in a low flame. Chai ka Masala

Masala Chai...Although I don't drink tea on a regular basic, my family is addicted to it. My mom and dad needs a hot cup of masala chai first thing in the morning. Their day does not start without a kadak chai ki pyali  ( a strong cup of tea ) and so is the case with many Indians. Chai is an integral part of Indian life style and each house hold has it's own measurements and method, although milk, sugar and tea leaves remains a constant. This Chai masala is a blend of various spices which gives the Chai a unique flavor. You can store it in an airtight container and can add a little bit of it to you tea. I will be sharing the method to make the India chai very soon. Here is the recipe to make the masala for chai. Passion Fruit Iced Tea

The days have started to get a bit warm in Bangalore. I have already started to draw the curtain of my living room during the day time and water my plants twice a day. Before I could savor all the warm and hearty soups that I love to sip on the cold winter evenings, It's already time to move on to my iced teas and sherbets. On a recent visit to my grocery store, I found passion fruits in the fruits section and bought a few packets. I had a few recipes in mind but an Iced tea topped the list. So the passion fruits went in to this very refreshing and light iced tea. Here is the recipe. All you need is Tea - 2 tsp ( I used Tajmahal brand ) Water - 4 cups Sugar - 1\2 cup Passion fruits - 12-15 Lemon juice - 2 tsp Mint leaves - 3-4 springs Ice cubes Method of preparation Bring water to a boil. Strawberry Tea

It's strawberry season and I just love this fruit. These days I am trying a lot of recipes in which strawberries are an ingredient and today I tried this refreshing strawberry tea. Give your daily tea a make over and make this easy to make strawberry tea instead. Here is the recipe. All you need is Strawberry - 1\2 cup + 1\4 cup ( chopped ) Water - 4 cups Green tea bags - 4 Honey - 4 tsp Method of preparation Mix water and 1\2 cup strawberries in a pan and bring to a boil. When the water starts to boil, switch off the heat. Add honey in the pan. Dip the tea bags in the pan. Let them steep for 2 minutes. Add the remaining 1\4 cup strawberries in 4 cups. Strain the tea in the cups. Serve immediately.
