Healthy Banana and Mixed Berries smoothie

Image
M y dear friend introduced me to this smoothie, who herself is a big smoothie lover. She would always tell about different varieties of smoothies which she makes at home for her family. One day when I was in her house, I asked for the recipe and generously she made a big batch of this smoothie and whatever she told about the smoothie is completely true. It is a very filling, healthy, appetizing, flavorful and simply mind blowing. While adding the frozen berries, banana and spinach the smoothie will be thick, just add enough amount of water or milk. There are lots of variations in making smoothies, like for kids we can add milk, for adults, who are health conscious can make this smoothie by adding water. Instead of regular milk, you can also add almond milk, by making the almond milk at home. I will share the recipe some other time. This makes more healthy by adding dates instead of sugar. If you want your smoothie sweeter, you can increase the number of dates. This is so filling that y...

Hot Chocolate Mix in a Jar

Image
H APPY NEW YEAR TO ALL Sorry for my late wishes, as I was on a small vacation during this Christmas break. I hope everyone had a good time enjoying the festive time with friends and family. I have noticed that during this vacations, most of the time I used to drink either hot coffee (my fav...) or hot chocolate milk, which is my daughter’s all-time cherished drink. As my daughter never finishes hot chocolate fully, I used to finish it off and lately I started liking this. Whenever I see a packet of hot chocolate mix, I usually make myself a cup. But nothing can beat a homemade hot chocolate as the store bought has many preservatives and hydrogenated oils added to this mix. I thought why not make the coco...

Watermelon Milk shake

Image
N owadays I am addicted to this amazing fruit. I can have it any time of the day, in any form and in any season. I remember as a kid, always when in season, my dad used to buy this and cut into big slices. We used to enjoy this during hot summer weather. Watermelon and milk is a perfect combination. I used to make a variety of juices and desserts out of watermelon like the watermelon mint coolers , watermelon and pomegranate mocktail , watermelon sorbet, watermelon popsicles and so on… Just that with sorbet and popsicles, I didn’t get a chance to take photos as they would finish off fast :-) In this milk shake, I have added watermelon with seeds. Nothing special.. just the laziness to de-seed..:-)  I blended everything together and strained at last. The milkshake came out clean. This is simple delicious and super easy to make. Just try it out…. Ingredients: Watermelon (cubed)- 2 Cups Sugar- 2 tbsps Cooled Milk- 1 Cup Vanilla Extract- ½ tsp ( optional ) Method: Blend all the ingredi...

Orange Milkshake- A fantastic cooler...

Image
N ow you all might be thinking how can we combine milk and oranges together, as the citrus in the fruit will tend to curdle the milk? But trust me the combination is absolutely delicious when we are using cold milk or ice cubes. I have used ice cubes so I took the milk which was at room temperature. The oranges which I used are called Mandarins, which doesn't have seeds. If using a normal orange then deseed and separate the carpels then blend well and serve immediately. Otherwise it will curdle up. This milkshake I had at my SIL’s house and it tasted amazing. I never thought that milk and orange could make such a wonderful combination. Ingredients: Oranges- 3 nos Milk- 1 ½ Cup Sugar- as required Ice cubes- few ( optional) Method: Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend till smooth. Sieve and serve immediately.
