Panchmel Dal \ Panchratna dal
Panchmel dal is a Rajasthani dal which is made by mixing 5 different variety of lentils. It tastes wonderful with rice and chapati. The famous bati of Rajasthan is also eaten with this dal. Here is the recipe.
All you need is
Arhar dal \ Yellow pigeon peas - 1\4 cup
Hari moong dal \ Split green gram- 1\4 cup
Kali urd dal \ Split black gram- 1\4 cup
Chana dal \ Bengal gram- 1\4 cup
Dhuli masoor dal \ Pink lentil- 1\4 cup
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder - 1\2 tsp
Water - 6 cups
Ghee - 1\2 cup
Dry red chilies - 3-4
Onion - 1 cup ( chopped )
Garlic - 1 tbsp ( chopped )
Ginger - 1 and 1\2 tsp
Green chilies - 2 ( chopped )
Fresh coriander - 2 tbsp ( chopped )
Method of preparation
Mix all the dals ( lentils ) in a bowl.
Wash nicely.
Add the dals in a pressure cooker.
Add water, salt and turmeric powder.
Cook till dal is done.
Heat ghee in a pan.
When the ghee is hot, add onion and garlic.
Fry for 2 minutes.
Add dry red chilies, ginger and green chilies.
Fry till onion turns golden brown.
Add the tadka in the cooked dal.
Garnish with fresh coriander.
Serve hot with bati or rice.
